When To Start Stage 2 Baby Food

My girls have been on solids for a while now, they started oatmeal cereal at 4 months old. We have gotten through almost all of the fruits and vegetable in Stage 1 and I was wondering when I should move them into stage 2 foods. I am not sure if it is at a certain age or if when 1 container of food is not enough per feeding. Right now each baby gets her own container of either a fruit or vegetable mixed with 2 Tbsp of oatmeal cereal 2x a day. It is kind of thick, but they like it that way, they do not like just the baby food alone it is too runny for them.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks Ladies.

Re: When To Start Stage 2 Baby Food

  • just give it a try.

i remember being amazed at how little of a difference stage 1 and 2 were- and wondered why i worried about when to switch :) Esp if they like thier oatmeal/rice thicker- they'll do fine with stage 2.

  • I agree with PP, I think the only difference is the size of the jar besides there are so much more flavors.

  • If they've gotten through the stage 1 w/out any allergic reactions then you should be good to move on.  The texture really isn't much different, they just combine more flavors so its harder to know what caused a reaction if they would happen to get one.
