What did you buy and NOT use??

Anything that you thought you HAD to have for you or the baby and ended up not using? I feel like I am going to over buy stuff. I just ordered two nursing tanks and a bra, and those Ameda Hydrogel things. I am just getting panicked!!

Re: What did you buy and NOT use??

  • Fantastic question!

*Most of her nb and 0-3 clothes (she lived in side-snap t-shirts and diapers and socks)

*Her crib for 6 months, LOL

*Ultimate crib sheets and extra sheets (never needed them)

*Travel swing (we tried it a few times but she never really liked it)

Probably more that I tried to forget!

  • Yeah, there have been lots of things we haven't used.  I've still got some blankets in their packaging, socks in their packaging, we barely used the bouncer (though I guess we used it enough to make it worthwhile), I had several packs of nursing pads and I used less than 1 box, I have some larger bottles I've never used (DS still only takes 5 oz max), I have a bunch of wimpy burp cloths I never used, & several hooded towels (he grew out of baby hooded towels in a couple of months.  I also had a ton of clothes that DS never got to wear when he was younger.  He grew so fast for the first 5-6 months, it seemed like he only got to wear things a couple of times before he was too big for them.  Luckily I didn't really buy much clothes for him back then.

  • Receiving blankets, socks, hooded towels (we never use these), burp cloths, wash cloths

As far as baby gear type stuff, the only thing I can think of that we didn't use was the sling.  Otherwise we got some good use out of pretty much everything.

  • Too many sheets- I had 3 then got 2 more as gifts I couldn't take back.  I gave one to my Mom...anyway.  Didn't need more than two.

Too many hooded towels and washcloths (I think we have like 8 towels)- again got too many as gifts without receipts...

    Too many clothes!

Changing pad covers- We have 3 and definitely don't need more than 2.  We did start using lap pads though over the changing pad so we don't have to wash the pad as often.  That probably helped us not needing more than 2.

Nursing tank... but it's bc I don't like the way it fits me.  Maybe I'll try it again now that I'm smaller.

  • freakin receiving blankets. good lord we have a crapload of them, and i never use them. they're too small to swaddle with or lie him on the floor with because he rolls right off.

    washcloths. we don't use them.

all baby socks suck. at least the kinds we've tried. hate them.

    bottles. we don't use them.

though most of the things we bought, we use. most of the above were gifts.

i'll dissent and say i like the hooded towels. i'd be perfectly happy without a hood on the towel, but our real towels are too thick to really get henry's chubby thigh rolls dry, and the baby towels are so thin, they're easy to maneuver.

  • Prob all the extra sheets we have. We use the water prrof pad over the sheet and a recieving blanket over that bc AT is allergic. But other than that we pretty have used everything.

We used the PNP more to travel than we did at home. We never used the swaddle blankets but will keep them for the next bab in case. I really havent used his tub that much either, but now that he has an ear infection i am using it to keep the water out.

Oh we really havent used this that much....Bright Starts By Your Side Infant Seat - Kids II - Babies"R"Us
