Hi ladies
DH just found out today he got a free trip to Maui through work. ?We knew this was a possibilty, but didn't know the trip was so soon (2/18-2/23). Also, I thought it would be a family vaca...but it is adults only. ?
Pros-free trip to Hawaii (minus my plane ticket, but we have miles) with DH!
Cons-I am still bfing and wasn't planning on weaning so soon.
Childcare-we live in WA and fam is in CA. ?We are looking into my parents coming up, but they would have to take off work...
This will be my first time away from the kids for more than an overnight. ?I have seen them everyday for the last 13 months! ?And I LOVE seeing them everyday! ?I know that at some point I would have to be away from them, and a free trip to HI would be the way to go, I just didn't expect it to be so soon!
So, wwyd?
Thanks
Trina
PS. DH was too cute. ?He said, "Put it out there and see what the girls on the nest say." ?I thought that was adorable!?
Re: free trip to Maui-talk me into it!
The trip is Th to Mon. ?I am in the process of weaning now. ?As of Jan 1, I went from 4xs a day to 2xs. ?I was planning on going down to 1x Feb 1. ?And then take it from there to drop that last feed (with the cut off at 15 months). ?So technically, this cuts off bfing 1 month early...not too bad. ?I am just feeling sort of rushed. ?I also could bring the pump, but I'm not really feeling that idea. ?
Trina?
I say go for it. Maui is beauiful, I would jump at the chance to go again. With my kids being only 5mo, I probably wouldn't but if they were over a year I probably would.?
It would be a great way for you and your dh to have some time together and not have to worry about paying for a vacation(I know you will have to pay a little).
Let us know what you decide. ?

dear lord....if you don't go, I'll probaby be mad at you.
I went to Maui for our honeymoon (oh the memory of money...) and I still have daydreams of laying around that island...(sigh)....
GO!!!?
Oh, Maui is amazing... we went for our honeymoon and I truly was so relaxed and left the real world behind. It is beautiful, and has so much to do (or not do, depending on your preference). If you have time, get the book "Maui Revealed" - it pointed us to all the best things to do!
As for weaning, I've never been through it, but can you bring a manual pump just in case you need it?
You deserve a vacation - enjoy it!!!!
You should definitely go! You totally deserve it after bfing for a year! You will come back feeling rejuvenated and that will make you a better mommy!
PS is this the Les Schwab Maui trip? Just curious.
good lord i have no idea why it kept posting without me being done..and now it will not let me delete
ok so as i was saying before the nest gods interupped me...GO! Think about the quiet time you and your dh can have together for the first time in a lonnnnng time
plus your parents would love to have the babies all to themselves!!!
DH and I went to Puerto Vallarta in December, a free trip from his work. I flew my sister in from TX to watch the babies and she did great. As soon as I hit that beach all the worry left me and I remembered exactly how to relax. It's like riding a bike, it comes right back to you! It was just what DH and I needed and the babies had a fun time being with someone new. We were so excited to come home to them and I think I was a better mom for it!
