Diarrhea questions

How do you know it's actually diarrhea, since baby poop consistency is all over the board?

The diaper I just changed had soaked completely in to his diaper - nothing sitting on top of the holes in the Pampers cruiser lining. Would you consider that diarrhea?

Normally his is a little firmer/thicker than peanut butter. 

If it is diarrhea, do you call pedi at the first sign, or only after repeated episodes?

    Lauren has been sick for about a week.  She started getting diarrhea on Sunday and at first it was just kind of a foamy texture but not really her normal poo.  Then Monday is was almost like water, it brought me back to the newborn poop days!  When she would go it was like an explosion in her diaper.  :)  She has a cold and a double ear infection.

    DD had diarrhea from antibiotic and it was oh 7-8 diapers a day and runny would soak the diaper and gave her a nasty rash..  I would wait if it seems to be a pattern yes call, did you give DC any new foods??

    MIL gave him homemade applesauce and sweet potatoes yesterday, but said there was nothing added.
