we're going to visit my pop tomorrow for t-day. he lives in a nursing home and i'm a little worried about bringing dd. i know it sounds crazy but there's a little old lady who lives down the hall from my pop. she carries a baby doll everywhere. it makes me sad just thinking about it, but anytime i've brought my nieces and nephews she tries to approach them. and by approach i mean she tries to grab for them. probably just to hug them or whatever but it's a little unsettling. so i'm nervous she's gonna be grabbing for dd. i'm going to hell for this aren't i?
Re: i'm going to hell for this, but...
If she's that bad off (memory-wise), she won't remember after you leave.
Hey... it's just the truth.
Put her in her carrier, I can't tell the brand, but whatever you're wearing in your siggy pics.
hmmm, yes keeping her in the carrier, or even in the carseat might be the best way to get her in and out to see her great-grandfather.
i just feel like an asss for worrying about it. for all i know that woman will be happily downing her thanksgiving jello when i'm there and won't pay us any mind. at least i can hope...
Don't worry about it. ?I mean, even if she was a child snatcher how far could she actually get? ?(now who's going to hell?!)
She's probably just enjoying the site of the little ones and wants to reach out to pat them or hug them. ?I mean, I wouldn't let her do that either but she's probably harmless. ??
I agree, keep her in your sling or in the stroller and you'll be okay. ?Maybe your daughter will give the lady a big wave when she sees her - it'll probably make her day. ??
We take DD to the nursing home every few months to visit her great, great uncle. The old women just light up when they see the baby coming through. One was completely satisfied to just hold DD's little foot and say "one-two-three" over and over again. I always hold her the whole time, but am happy to let them look and even touch her little feet or whatever. I figure, I've got wipes in the car and it obviously brightens their day so much.
I say wear her in the carrier or keep her in the carseat if you're super concerned. Otherwise, let them enjoy the glimpse of youth knowing you're making their day.
