I was just walking through the mall sobbing...

I was at Gymboree putting some fleece on hold for the BF sale. S and I decided to walk the long way to Trader Joe's to pick up dinner.?

Well, our mall is an outdoor "lifestyle" mall. They have the trees, etc. outside completely decked out for the holidays and Christmas music playing through the speakers. That Canon in D song with the children's choir was playing. (Canon in D was our wedding song and it's on a lullaby CD that S and I listen to every night. It holds a very special place in my heart.)

So this amazingly beautiful song was playing, everything was a lit up, and I was holding the tiny hand of my beautiful baby girl. I realized that in spite of everything else going on right now, I can clothe my daughter and put food on our table. And I realized just how insanely lucky we really are. Then I burst into tears.?

Good thing it was dark, because the other shoppers would have thought I had lost it. ?

It is truly amazing how it takes a little hard luck to put everything that *really* matters in perspective. ?

  • I know exactly what you mean.  When I start to worry about money I just look at my daughter and realize how blessed we are to be able to afford our house, clothes, and food.  Sure, there aren't a ton of extras right now, and most weeks we are paycheck to paycheck, but having a healthy girl and a healthy boy on the way is really all that matters!

  • it is so true!  I've been so down this week, but every time I see G's face, I feel so happy and teary.  Happy holidays to everyone!
  • I am feeling very lucky today too.  It is DH's birthday and he had to have knee surgery today, but compared to anyone else in the waiting room, we are over the top happy, healthy, and lucky.  One family was told their loved one would need a liver transplant while we ware there.  Very sad.
  • sorry to change the subject, but what fleeces were on sale?
  • Don't go making me cry. You are very right though.
