Moms Of 2

Well, I just had a baby girl last monday!  My question is...i have a toddler who will be 2 on friday...do you have a nanny?  On days that you don't HOW do you do it? i have a nurse here for a few more days, but when she leaves i'm nervous! how do you go to classes w/the toddler?  What types of activities do you do w/the toddler that you can bring the newborn infant??? THANKS SO MUCH

Re: Moms Of 2

  • I have 3 children and no nanny.  you just "do it".

    I have a 9 year old a 2 1/2 year old and an 8 month old..

u do playdates with mom's/frinds with same aged kids, and sometimeshave to bring the others.. or drop off playdates,. or get a sitter for the other

  • We do storytime and tap, ballet and tumbling.  Its no big deal to bring N.   When he was little he'd sleep through story time, now he plays with all the other kids and the moms aren't allowed in the dance classes so we hang outside and socialize with the other moms with younger kids.  They are all around.

I always just keep my oldest on her schedule and played with and nursed him around her schedule

  • No, no nanny or any help.  In the beginning I didn't do much "housework"...I just focused on them, feeding & caring for them.  For a long time & often we still do this, my DH takes my girls on Saturday morning (grocery shopping, DD to swim lessons, soccer or ballet, museum, zoo etc) & I get time alone to clean then.  When I still nursed DH would come back every couple hours & I'd nurse her.  Now I take my girls to MOPS, preschool, classes all the time.  My DD takes classes (ballet, swimming, etc) at the YMCA & they have a childcare room that will take my younger DD so I can just watch the older DD or take time to workout myself.  Or I take them both to the kid's museum, shopping at the mall, or where ever.  I did when the baby was an infant as well, after I got into a routine.  Newborns are hard unless they nap in the infant seat.  YOu'll have to play it by ear & it'll work itself out.  I wouldn't even worry about it for a couple weeks...you'll get it.

  • Congratulations!??

I don't have a nanny.? You'll figure out a routine that works for you.? It helped me to organize everything for the next day before going to bed (wash up, pack the diaper bag, load the car, lay out the clothes, and even prep meals).??

A good sling and a nice double stroller are good things to?have.??

  • I have a 2yo and a  9mo. No nanny here. The best piece of advice I can give is DON'T worry about any housework, just let it go for a few weeks. I also found that we didn't get into any kind of a routine until the time DS#2 was about 2mo. As the pp said, you just do it.  We go to the park, story time at the library. I think also the older your baby girl the easier it will be. Congrats by the way!
