Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Watching sign language video - so excited to start!

I've already started showing DS "more," but I'm so excited to use some signs all the time now.  If you're signing to DC, when did you start?  When did DC seem to understand any signs?  Start signing back?  I'm so excited about being able to communicate with DS!

  • I started with both girls at about 6-8 mo, but they didn't get it until about 11 mo.  DD2 has learned 4 signs in about 2 weeks.  She asks for milk, please, eat and bed.  Usually when she signs bed she is ready NOW!

  • haven't started, but planning on it. What dvd are you using?
  • Which one did you get? Do you recommend it?  Thanks!
  • That's awesome! We integrate sign into our daily lives. DS isn't signing yet, but we can tell that he understands when we sign to him.

  • Fun! I'm signing up for a workshop and a 6 week 'sign play group' that teaches about 100 signs I think total, but lets you practice. I'm suuuppperr excited about it!!
  • We started signing with both at six months and DD#1 signed back at eight months and DD#2 signed back at seven months. At 12 months we start watching Signing Time with them and DD#1 still enjoys watching the DVDs. It is sooo worth it and such a wonderful thing to know they can communicate with you!
  • I got mine from the library.  It's Dr. Joseph Garcia's "Sign with your Baby."  It seems good enough to get started with.  I'm starting with 3 signs - milk, more, and eat.  I have to watch the rest of the DVD before I can really say I recommend it, but it's fine for now at least.
