I don't want people to try to convince me to continue on. I am just curious when I have a very abundant supply (and I already feel a clogged milk duct) am I going to be able to stop without getting mastitis? Anybody do this? We are headed to the ped soon, Klaire is obviously dairy intolerant and had blood in her diaper this morning. Okay- no flames please! if you are going to flame me then close the post- I am not up for it this morning!
Re: How to stop bf without getting mastitis?
Poor baby!!
?
I think you have to go really slow-- you'll have to pump for awhile and gradually cut down pumping.
?
Good luck!!?

You do what you need to do!
The only thing I can suggest is to take an antihistamine (Sudafed or the like) as it will help dry you up.
I used to squeeze them in the shower and let hot water run on them...
good luck!!! ((HUGS))
No flames here! I know how that is. It *hard* to cut out dairy for BFing!?Both of my girls are dairy-sensitive (Nora, only a little. Lydia ended up allergic). ?
When I weaned Nora as 6 months, I just pumped when I absolutely needed to, and just enough for me to be comfortable again. That lasted about two weeks and I was pumping a couple times/day (usually first thing in the morning and again in the afternoon). With Nora, I was able to mix that milk with soy formula and she as fine with it.
Good luck! ?
