Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Using a restaurant high chair ???

Baby can sit up on his own in his walker, his bumbo, on the couch, etc. but the restaurant high chair is just too wide for him.  We've tried shoving a blanket around him to try to fill the space but he still slides down.  Any other suggestions?

Re: Using a restaurant high chair ???

  • We found our DS had to sit pretty well on his own before being able to use a highchair without tipping or sliding. Prior to that, we just held him on our laps at restaurants (it was a LONG few months like that--ugh). We also have a plush cart cover that helps take up some of the extra space in the chair (and we love it).?

  • I would put a blanket behind him and then my purse on one side of him.  That really helped.  He is still on the little side and even though he is great at sitting I still use the blanket to help push him forward a little.

  • We have a cart/high chair cover that we use, and it helped fill up some of the extra space.  Plus it has a strap on it, that actually goes across his chest rather than his lap, that held him up a little.

  • DD still doesn't do well in the high chair if I don't use the cart cover.  Those things don't seem too comfortable anyway, she looks like she's always leaning in them.

  • We always take our booster seat along.  My son could sit in it and I feel that it is a healthier/cleaner option.  Who knows when the restaurant cleaned their highchairs last.  We even use the booster seat at home instead of a high chair.  This is my highest recommended baby item.
