Babies: 9 - 12 Months

sick baby help

I'm pretty sure DS vomited for the first time last night.  He hadn't eaten much during the day at daycare, but then sucked down almost 9 oz.  Then he had his solids and a while later a small bottle.  I don't know if he may have overeaten and that caused him to be sick or not...but what should I be doing for him?  I know to keep an eye out for dehydration if the vomiting or diahrea continue.  Is there anything else?

  • Sounds like a lot of food all at once. He may have overeaten. My son is in the 90th percentile, and the most he can eat in one setting is either a 7oz bottle and that's it, or a veggie and fruit and a small 3oz bottle.

  • Agreed that it sounds like a lot. DD only gets 6 oz. at a time, 7 at most, and she needs to have her solid spread apart more, not right before/after a bottle.  I would keep an eye out for more vomiting and diarrhea and then figure out what's going on.

  • Thanks ladies.  I was thinking it might overeating as well, but not positive since he's never vomited before.  He just seemed so hungry.  I'm also weaning from breastfeeding, so maybe I'm not reading his signs well enough to know when to stop with the bottle.  I'm definitely going to keep an eye on him and not let him have as much tonight.
