This freaks me out to think it's LEGAL for people to use video scanners to pick up images like those transmitted from video baby monitors and to basically spy on you in your own home! Makes me glad we haven't upgraded to one
Re: Scary! If you have a video baby monitor...
One evening, our neighbor called and asked if I had my baby monitor on. I told her I did and she said she could hear everything we were saying over her monitor. Ack! I wonder how many times she or someone else listened in!
Ugh... that is freaky! I know I've heard of that happening, particularly with analog monitors (supposedly happens less/not at all with digital ones but who knows!)
It's a good reminder to turn off monitors when not using them, and to be careful what you say/do when they're on
EEK!
I secretly WISH I could listen in on other people's monitors...but I don't want them to hear me.
i am such a voyueristic scum.
You should consider some of the same precaution with your computer if your have a wireless connection.
My ex (he's a computer science nerd) occassionally used to drive around with another computer friend and access people's computers, their drives, the net cams...anything they could gain access to through the wireless signal, just because they could. And they weren't using anything high tech. I think the scanner was made from a mt dew can and wire.
A friend of mine and her neighbor could see each other's kids on each other's video monitors. I got one anyway, as there's nothing interesting to see on ours!
