1. im calling the dr as soon as they open tomorrow
2. are yall still giving your babies the formula?
3. are you going to try to pump back up your breast milk supply?
?4. are they any formulas that are safe that you're going to switch to- which you could be traumatic for the baby, of course....
?
any thoughts...?
Re: what are yall doing in response to the melamine?
It's likely that my pedi doesn't know any more than I do at this point, so I am not calling. Not yet anyway.
I am going to follow this story and see what develops. Yes, in the meantime, I am giving him the formula. He's on Enfamil AR for reflux. He tolerates it well and I'm afraid to switch him to something else.
I had low supply to begin with and it tanked when he was 5.5 months. Me pumping is not an option.
We use Target brand, which is made by PBM Nutritionals. It doesn't look like they are affected, but I will be keeping a look out.
There is no way I could bring my supply back up!! (I don't think?) I had emergency surgery when DS was 4 months old and had to stop. I tried pumping weeks after and my supply was never the same.
We have changed DS's formula a couple times and there were never any problems. We have tried Similac and Enfamil and then settled on Target.

I feed my DS 1/2 breastmilk 1/2 Enfamil Gentle Ease.
Should we be concerned? All of the articles that I read said Enfamil Lipil with Iron.
I am starting to really PANIC!
Ditto!!!!!!!
Seriously what am going to do? Go and raid milk donation banks? My breast were defective so my options are limited!
I emailed my pedi (he's quick to reply to emails) so hopefully I'll get a response from him in the morning. I'll post his response if it's helpful.
In the meantime, I'm going to keep feeding DS his Nutramigen. He's so allergic to everything else it's our only option now.
Ugh.
I think it's ridiculous.
I am not doing anything.
Not doing anything right now...who knows if there is a 'safe' formula. Luckily he was breastfed for the first 6 months of life and only have 2 more months of formula to go. I found a good news article on it...it explains how much of this chemical was found in US formula in comparison to China, etc.

FWIW, if you notice your generic formula is made by PBM, know that most generic formula is made by PBM, ultimately, regardless of what brand name it's labeled under (Target, Wal-Mart, Kroger, Sam's, etc.). So store brand is not necessarily excluded. They didn't even mention if it had been tested or not.
But, they've got to eat. It sounds like this will not end up being as big a deal as we thought.
