Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Night terrors anyone?

How often does your child have them and what do you do for them?

It happens at our house practically every night.  Sometimes more than once per night and we feel lucky if we get two nights in a row without any at all!  I don't really know what to do about it except go in and calm her down.  Sometimes it only takes 5-20 minutes to get her back down.  Other times it takes an hour and a half only for it to happen again an hour and a half later.  I'm hoping its a phase.

  • About once a month here.  I just hold her and get her to wake up (usually takes 5 minutes) then hold her until she goes back to sleep (around 20 minutes).

  • DD just saw her pedi for this last week. We were told to put her down, and then wake her up an hour later, and then put her down again. Evidently, it will help to reset her internal clock and help her sleep better. Sometimes it is a pain to get her back down, but it has worked so far.

  • Oh and LOTR once gave me good advice.  Depends on your views of course, but you could pray to keep a blanket of protection over your DC to keep the spirits/demons away.  Just a thought.
