I can't seem to find one that lasts longer than one season....

I pulled out ours for Mitch last night and the thing is so stinking loud.  He sleeps through it but it can't be good to have that much noise while he's sleeping.

DH just bought a nice one at Walgreens.  Its just a regular cool mist humidifier with a little light, and its very quiet.  It also has a $10 rebate this month on it.

ditto.  we have the elephant.  and you can adjust the amount of mist output.  i love it!

We have this one - it is almost silent and works very well. It has a large range of settings for how humid you want it, which is nice:
