MH turned off the TV for the entire weekend except for one episode of Deigo or Dora before bed.
And at first, it was really hard. Because then we were the constant source of entertainment for DS#1. But after 3 days of it, it's really nice!
Sure, he still asks for "Go Go" first thing in the morning, but him using his brain to do puzzles and other things really wears him out. Which = better naps = happy mommy.
So, yeah, lots of work when he's up, but I'm fulfilled because he's not vegging out on the TV and his naps are great because he's actually mentally tired!
Re: This less TV thing is really nice, actually!
Yeah, it's hard at first, for everyone, I think.
But I've been turning on the music and he loves to dance. And I've sung "the Rudolph song" eleventy billion times, but he loves it and it's SO much better than Nick Jr. all day long.
Honestly, I just can't wait until summer time again when we're out at the pool all day instead.
Me with my littlest.
It is nice. Then they actually play with their toys.
I usually have the TV on something I am watching, but now she understands what is going on, so I turn it off. I had some cheesy Lifetime movie, and of course a woman was getting raped or murdered to scary music, and she ran over to me all upset. I felt so bad.
I think the problem in our house is that I'm addicted to the TV. I can't just play dolls with DD all morning long, so I watched a show I recorded about the 16 yo conjoined twins in Minnesota while playing with her.
It is getting annoying now that DD is so demanding about watching TV and watching Dora. Plus she's paying attention more now, so things like Grey's Anatomy probably aren't appropriate anymore.
