I ran last night and...

I almost puked.

First things first --- I gained this week!  BOO!  But not totally unexpected.  Just got done with my period yesterday and did drink quite a bit on Saturday.  Gained 2.4 so I'm still at an overall loss of almost 15 pounds.  Better focus this week!

Anyway --- I ran last night.  Haven't run in a couple of weeks however Joe wanted to work out with me (YAY!) and he wanted the elliptical (BOO!) so I did the treadmill.  I did good for not having run lately --- 1/4 mile walking, 1/4 mile running, 1/4 walking, 1/4 mile running.  Then we switched and I did elliptical and he did treadmill.

Did 50 minutes total --- and I felt like I was going to puke after.  My normal routine is to work out --- and then sit at the computer for about 10 minutes (to continue cool down) and then go take a shower.  Well, the kids were still up last night so I hopped off the machine, ran upstairs, showered with Joey, and man -- I don't think I cooled down long enough because I started feeling REALLY sick to my stomach.  But worked through it --- and there ya go.

I did weigh myself after my workout last night (of course I did) and I was actually down .5 from last week.  But this morning, the weigh-in that counts, up 2.4!

Re: I ran last night and...

  • Were you drinking water?  I always need some water after I run, otherwise I get the pukey feeling for sure.

And I would definitely not worry about the 2.4 lbs in the grand scheme of things.

  • Loading the player...
  • How long did it take you to get used to the eliptical?  I did 45 minutes on the treadmill last night, then tried the eliptical and couldn't make it past 5 minutes...my butt and legs were on FIRE.  I was at a 9 incline and 4 mph on the treadmill, which may explain it.  That alone nearly killed me, but I didn't check the course out before I set it.
  • A NINE incline!?  Are you trying to kill yourself?!

The first 1-2 times I did the elliptical, 20 minutes felt like a long time.  But I got used to that quickly and moved on to 30 minutes and then 45-60 fairly quick.  I pride myself on not being "your typical fat girl" when it comes to exercise --- I'm sick enough in the head that I can keep up with the skinny chicks!  ;)

  • Oh, I didn't pick that incline.  It automatically adjusts based on the course you select.  Do you do either or?  Or is the eliptical first?
  • I used to do the elliptical first --- for 20 minutes --- and then do the treadmill for 20-25 minutes.

I eliminated the treadmill because the elliptical burns more calories!!!  :)
