Daycare Center Holiday gifts question

How much are you giving your daycare providers? With twins I know I should give more - they are there full-time.  We have one main provider, one who spends a lot of time with our kids, and 4 more.

Is $200, $100, and $25 x 4 excessive or not enough?

Re: Daycare Center Holiday gifts question

  • wow.... i think it is excessive.  I was the Director of a center and the nicest thing I got was a $25 gift card and I think one of the teachers got a $50 one.  It was very nice to have got what I did, as I did not expect anything.  (The mom of twin 4 year olds and a 3 year old gave out $25 gift cards).  Do as you want but you do not have to give that much!
  • Wow.  Last year I did a $30 gift card for the main caregiver and $10 for everyone else.

  • I teach kindergarten at a private child care center and the gifts vary greatly. I certainly dont expect gifts from the families, some families dont give gifts and others might just do a little orniment or something. Other gifts I have received include $25 gas card, Bath and Body Works basket, $10 movie gift card, a Tiffany's ceramic bowl, handmade picture frame from student with a picture of us, $50 gift cards to Walmart and Outback. My favorite thing to receive is always a nice card from a family telling me how much the appreciate what I do.

I think do what you feel comfortable with and what you can afford. Maybe ask other families what they are doing so you have an idea.

  • Whoa - that seems excessive to me.  2 years ago I bought Coffee mugs and filled them with candy.  Last year I think I gave each teacher a $20 Visa Card with a nice card.  I'll probably do something like the above this year, even with 3 children at the daycare.
