Awesome on the running.  When I was first starting out, I ran at about 5.0 miles per hour, and then gradually added more speed.

You totally have to go how you feel.  Now, I run for 2-3 minutes at 6.2 mph, and then do the bulk of my run between 6.5-7.2...BUT, I've been running for a long time, and it's taken forever to build up to that.

You'll also want to add some incline.  Most treadmills have a slight downward slope, so 1-1.5% incline brings you to about neutral, with a small uphill angle, which will be harder, but will get more out of your runs.

Keep it up!
