Help me decide: xmas gift for DD

She's already definitely getting a baby doll and doll stroller, which I'm really excited about (she'll love the stroller for sure, and i'm hoping she likes the baby doll, and it'll be good with #2 coming).

For probably her only other present from us, I had gotten her an Elmo Live awhile back because I figured I'd get it now, keep the receipt and decide in case they went out of stock or whatever. DD saw it in BRU on a demo table and LOVED it. Now I'm reconsidering because Elmo has to be right next to his little chair to work and I'm not sure if DD (will be 19.5 months) will leave him alone or if she'll want to touch and move him. If I don't do Elmo Live, I'm thinking the Parents Bristle Blocks set:

which would you get her?

  • I'd go for the bristle blocks. We also considered Elmo Live for our 18 mo DD but I don't think she's old enough to understand that he has to be by his chair. Plus, he tells stories, jokes and all sorts of other things, and I just don't think she'd understand. She also likes to carry toys around by their arms, etc., and I think she'd break him.

  • N LOVES Elmo Live so I'd stick with that.

  • I've never actually seen Elmo Live (I know, the horror!) so maybe I'm off base here, but could you get her the blocks and then just a (small, inexpensive) stuffed Elmo?  At her age, she probably would love ANY elmo, although I'm sure elmo live does cool things that I just don't know about ;-)
  • I bought the Giggling Elmo on sale from $45 to $11 at Fry's. Maybe that would do instead of the Live so that you have some money for the Bristle set too?
