  • I am very concerned about how my dog will be with a baby.  he always wants to be the center of attention.  I've bought 2 books to read to help him adjust.  I don't think my cat will adjust that great either, she hates alot of noise and I have a feeling we may not see alot of her the first few months until she gets used to a screaming baby.

It's a girl!!!!!!!  The big u/s looks good everything on track.  Now if I could just get my nerves in check since I am in the 20 week mark which is when I lost Raymond.

  • 1. We are planning on bringing a blanket home from the hospitla. We also have been spending a lot of time in the baby's room and he is always with us. He sniffs around and I think he knows something is going on. My dog is very loving and loves kids so I do not think we will have many problems.

    2. I got my bedding yesterday. I think we will start to decorate the nursery either this weekend or next weekend. I am also having my 3D ultrasound on Sat. Hopefully he cooperates.

  • 1) We have 2 cats and I expect that they will probably hide for a little while but I don't anticipate any real problems.  I'm concerned about them jumping into the bassinet or crib.

    2) No real news.  I'm getting over a cold.  Still feeling tired at night and I'm hoping for that 2nd tri energy boost.  At this point I'm just looking forward to Thanksgiving next week!

  • Hi-Can I be added?  I'm due 4/1/09.

    1. Our cats took it hard for a bit with my DD.  DH took one of the blankets she was swaddled in at the hospital home with him to let them sniff and try to get used to the scent before she came home.

    2. I have a level II u/s today and am hoping to get a peek at the sex.

  • 1. I am worried about my one dog, she is the center of attention and to get me to pet her she will paw at my arm. One time I was holding my niece and she wanted to be petted and she pawed at my arm but the baby?s head was there so she ended up hitting the baby?s head. She didn?t do any damage or leave a scratch mark but I am working on teaching her that she cannot ask to be petted that she must wait for my attention.  I don?t expect aggressive behavior from them but I do expect them to take some time to adjust and I know Fievel the other dog will be afraid of the baby at first.

    2. I was sick yesterday with what seemed like a virus so I went home from work and today I have my ultrascreen to test for Down syndrome and other abnormalities. It will be my first peek at the baby.

  • Good question! We have two cats and I am worried about our older cat Teddy. He's eight and doesn't adjust well to change. He was mad at us for about 6 months after we got Howie. I like the idea of bringing the baby  blanket home. With cats, I'm not really sure what else can be done! I think I'm going to need to work harder with preparing DH about our cats and child. Just because they jump up in the baby crib, or accidently jump on the baby doesn't mean we need to give them away...haha!

    2. I'm feeling much better lately! My bronchitis is completely gone. I did have an interesting symptom emerge this morning which was excruciating backpain, probably from the baby laying on a nerve. Wasn't really prepared for that one!

  • 1)  One of our cats is very easy going and sticks around when we have company with kids over.  The other one is in for a HUGE adjustment.  She's very attached to me (follows me every where) & scares easily.  We've been trying to get her to cuddle with DH more and have him play fetch with her more.  We've also been sitting in the baby's room and turning on toys/things that vibrate and make noise.  She was a little freaked at first but has warmed up to the noise.  When she's sitting at the computer with me I'll go on youtube and play videos of crying newborns.  She doesn't budge much at that but I'm sure she'll go running under the bed once there's one in our house.  NOTHING will really prepare her but I figure we may as well try these small things.  My SIL's cat started peeing all over the furniture after their first son was born.  It's one of my fears now.

They haven't bothered with the baby things at all.  We have the crib, a bouncy seat, a bassinet, and the infant carrier on the floor and they haven't tried to jump in them.  The braver one naps under the crib at times and sleeps in the nursery on the floor during the day.

     2)  As of this week our little guy is breech but he has plenty of time to turn.  His movement has become painful at times but things are continuing to go well.

  • 1.  I plan on reading/getting a dog trainer.  I am not worried about my dogs wanting to hurt the baby but I do worry just because of how large they are and how rough they can be when they play.

    2.  I am feeling great.  I have had a cold all week but I don't feel bad - just sneezing and coughing a lot.  We are telling our best friends this weekend.  I am mailing Tday cards to my newphews, sister & BIL, and my parents this weekend to tell them and then we're telling all of our other friends at Thanksgiving next week.  I can't wait!

  • Welcome PoundCake!  Congrats on #2!  Let us know if you find out the sex!

1.)  No pets for us, so no adjustment.

2.)  I'm now going to the doctor every other week.  I take my 1 hour glucose test on Tuesday - wish me luck!  I'm feeling pretty good, just a touch of heartburn here and there, hopefully it stays that way - maybe my nausea is coming back - sometimes I can't tell.  Overall, other than being a bit tired, I'm feeling pretty good!

  • 1. We're planning on bringing home the baby's first blanket so our dog can smell it. We also let her sniff around the nursery and get used to the idea that she should stay away from the crib, but feel comfortable in the room.

    2. No real updates. I'm feeling pretty well, just more and more nervous about L&D as we get closer!!
