2nd Trimester

Is anyone videotaping the birth?

I asked for a mirror with DD but they took it away because I was less focused watching the baby's head than without. I really wanted to watch and I was bummed they took it away, so I'm thinking about taping this time. Anyone else considering it?

Re: Is anyone videotaping the birth?

  • No.  I didn't video our wedding.  Won't video our son's birth either.

  • No. Don't think I would even want a mirror. Maybe another time, but not the first time. However...I thought I heard you weren't allowed to anymore due to too many malpractice suits???? I heard that a long time ago, so it definately could not be true. Or maybe it depends on the hospital. I guess, just double check before you get your heart set on anything.
  • Not allowed to video tape? Really? I haven't heard that. Hmmm. . .
  • No, my hospital has a policy against video or still photos prior to the actual birth.  Not that I wanted to film the actual birth.

  • DH wants to videotape, but I told him he couldn't focus it directly on my vag. I'd like to show the video to family, but they don't need to be lookin at my koochie!

  • Heck no!  My hospital won't allow it anyway.
  • I am not planning on it. Though, I did just run into a friend who told me she really regrets not taping it so she could see it. I still don't think that I will though. I let DH give me a play by play... haha!

  • Nope. My DH will have the digital camera ready for after she is born but no one really needs to see a birth video. Has anyone ever had a friend come to their house and ask to see it? Personally for me that is just too intimate to show just anyone and I doubt DH and I would watch it again after the baby is born. I shall just leave that memory burned into his brain forever lol.
  • I only think of that movie "Nine Months" when I think of videotaped births.

  • Fvck no!!!!

Maybe a little tape before everything starts and once the baby is here. But vag shots for certain.

  • I agree with the whole 9 months reference ! ! ! No way ! ! ! If we were meant to see it our bodies would be arranged differently!
  • My hospital won't allow it either (malpractice).  I think it's a ridiculous rule.

  • No way do I want to look at my vag in that condition.

  • Hell no! I agreed to maybe a little before and after but none during and NEVER down there! I think I would freak out if I had a mirror there as well. I'm all set with seeing that sh*t!
  • My hospital won't allow it either. Even if it did, I don't want to record my va-jay-jay. hahah
  • Hells no.  I was a raving biotch during my labor with Kate.  Not so nice to DH, not such a lady.  No reason for my kids to see the lunatic that birthed them in her less than finest hour.  No need for me to relive that either!
  • I don't think I'd be comfortable with that. We'd probably never watch it again anyway. How often do we watch our wedding video? Maybe our anniversary.?
