I talked to the nurse today and it turns out that they never filed a formal appeal like I requested. They called Premera and asked for a peer-to-peer review, instead, which resulted in the denial. But, that is not the same as a formal review so we still have a chance there.

They are writing the letter tomorrow for the formal appeal and sending it in. Then we wait. If that fails, we'll appeal with the company itself.

My dr ended up asking for a peer to peer review with a different dr b/c the dr that made the initial decision was a kidney dr (not even a pediatric kidney dr). She demanded a neonatologist or an infectious disease dr do the appeal review.
