2nd Trimester

Ugh...I hate work (vent)

So a few weeks ago my bosses talked to me about my "negative attitude" that people supposedly commented on.  True, I do say I don't like living in this area, but never said anything about this job or whatever to people here.  So anyways, I've actually made an effort to be fake nice to everyone the last few weeks and they want to have another follow up meeting with me tomorrow afternoon.  Ugh. They better not have anything else to say bc I don't know what the hell they want me to do. I'm not an over the top cheery person at work and I don't care to share details of my personal life with them like other people do.  (I work for a small company that thinks its one big family and people get offended when you don't want to do things with employees).  Anyways, so I hope tomorrow's meeting isn't another "you have an attitude" meetings and they'll actually comment on the effort I've been making to be extra nice and happy.

I'm sure they'll ask me yet again what my plans for maternity leave are, like they always do, but I'm not telling them I'm quitting yet.  My plans are to have my last day be December 31st, and I don't have an obligation to them to give them a huge notice so I really don't care.  I planned on telling them on Dec 1 that I'm thinking of staying home and I'm going to work out finances with my husband over the next few days to see if it's feasible and then tell them at the end of the week or the next Monday that I'm quitting for good.

  • That's so annoying! I hate pretending to act all happy and nice to people when you don't want to be/don't care.  I gave my notice yesterday - it was AWESOME.  My last day is December 19th, I am so excited!

Let us know how your meeting goes tomorrow!

Hahah I think they might see through that.  Although, people in my office do LOVE cookies. Whenever someone sets some in the kitchen, they are gone within 5 minutes.

  • Nah - it's the holidays.  Just say you felt like baking!  ;-)  And, you know, if you ACCIDENTALLY drop the exlax in instead of chocolate chips, well...you know..preggo brain and all that...

Hahahahah! That's actually a REALLY good idea...

  • Hang in there. At least you only have another month. It could be much, much worse. I'm surprised that they had a meeting with you about your attitude. As someone in management, I was always taught that calling someone on their "attitude" wasn't a good idea because it's so subjective and a personality thing, etc. They should be focusing on your performance instead. Is your "attitude" affecting your performance? If they bring it up again, I'd ask them point blank what this has to do with your performance. I'm pretty sure it's not in your job description to make friends with your coworkers...

     Best of luck!

  • you'll be out of there before you know it.  hang in there!
  • I feel ya...I hate my current job too...just keep thinking each day you make it thru there is one day closer to staying at home! One more month and then all those people will be a very distant memory!
