To others, I start saying "almost 1", then "one", then "almost one and a half", then "one and a half" and she's 19 months now (almost 20 on the 21st) so she's still "one and a half." Probably january I'll start saying "she's approaching two."
That leaves it normal English and if another parent actually cares, he/she will ask the actual birthdate to compare or place my kids with their own kids, or their grandkids.
I did... at about 17mos, I just started saying he was "one and a half", etc. The other day I was talking to a customer and he told me his son was something like 27mos old. I had to stop & calculate how many months old Luc was... I felt funny saying he was 34 or 35mos...
Exactly you guys. I'm just gonna start saying "almost 2". Then they can STILL look at me like I'm crazy because she's no bigger than the average 1yr old!
At twenty months, I started saying "almost two," and now I say (at nearly 27 months) that he's "two."
I'll be more specific if it's a mom with a kid who looks to be around the same age, but other than that, he's just two.
That said, between 18 and 24 months, he changed SO SO SO much. His vocab went through the roof, etc. So, I guess there is some merit to saying the months at that point!
Re: Anyone else feel stupid saying
I think I'll feel dumb saying that. I always thought it sounded dumb. "22 months" just say almost 2.
I almost died when I saw clothing marked 36 months. I had to do some math.

My single and married w/o children friends look at me like an alien when I say sh*t like that.
I just tell people she's 2 1/2 now.?
