he's never going to STTN. EVER.

EVER. ?I put him down half an hour ago & he's already restless. ?I can't keep doing this and working. ?I wish he'd sleep. ?Please. ?One night STTN a week, that's all I ask. ?

Re: he's never going to STTN. EVER.

  • Hi Kori--

I know how frustrating that is.  DS was the same way...he has only been STTN since about 9 months, and that was after we stopped his night time bottle (took four nights for him to realize I wasn't going in to feed him) and then slowly he started STTN.  It is so hard.  And DD wasn't like that at all so it seemed so much worse.

I just wanted to tell you to hang in there.  He will get it.  Hugs.

  • I remember thinking this too. Then finally the night came. She was around 10 months old. Hope the night come soon for you.

  • Nora didn't STTN until she was 18 months.  I seriously thought she never would, but we made it.
  • DS didn't do more than a 40min nap from 3 months on until 18 months. And he did not STTN until a year, in fact woke every 2 hours or more.

Working on no sleep totally sucks.?

  • DS is 13 months and just STTN for the first time last week. It is only until 5:30, but hey I will take it. He was the worst sleeper on earth, so if he can do it, so can yours!
  • He's not even close to a year old yet!  Benjamin was 16 months when he slept through the night for the FIRST time.  He was spotty for a few weeks after that, and then "sttn," but woke up at 4:45 for the day.

     He'll come around.

  • ugh. ?You need to lie to me and sugarcoat it to make me feel better, don't, for the love of pete, be honest!!

    *sobbing* ?

j/k I know he'll get there eventually. ?I'm just starting to think he'll be in college by then.

  • My oldest didn't STTN until around 14mo.

My youngest STTN from the day we brought her home.  Now, she's decided that sleep sucks and refuses.  No day sleep.  No night sleep.  No sleep ever.

I don't care anymore....I'm not going to sleep until I die.  I've accepted this.

  • Awwww. Been there. Twice. Honestly, totally, intellectually did NOT believe it would ever happen. And it did. Twice. Ya gotta believe. And hang in there. Just a few more months.
  • he is absolutely gorgeous though! :)

    how's my girl, Sam???

I know it won't make you feel any better, but as you know, S never slept through the night on a consistent basis until 19 months. hopefully he'll start STTN really soon!!!?

  • Ugh jeez. I can imagine how hard that must be, especially working.

It will get better soon. Until then, hang in there. You are strong and can do it.?

  • Is he reverse-cycling?  are you cosleeping?  DS woke REALLY really often for ages and ages.  he was almost 2 by the time he STTN.  I couldn't have survived without cosleeping (and he wouldn't sleep alone for longer than 45 minutes anyway).

  • aw.  How can you resist that face though??

  • Thanks! ?We joke that he's lucky he's cute lately.. grrr!

I know we got spoiled by Sam. ?I just wish I could get a break somewhere. ?He hates bottles, is pukey & gets hives with most formulas.. so I can't really let DH take a night. ?If I could do that once in a while it wouldn't be so bad. ?But no. ?

Sam is good, but throwing more tantrums lately. ?I think she's overtired and getting bored. ?Not sure how we're going to fix that one. ?She's getting funnier.

    How's S doing?? ?When do you close/move, etc/???

  • I can sympathize.  DD still doesn't STTN.  At least now she gets out of her bed, runs to our room (complete with slamming doors), and gets into our bed to go right back to sleep.  The first two years before night weaning were rough.

  • S is great! she is a riot! such a funny little person!?

our closing date is scheduled for 1/15 (day after S's b-day) and we are supposed to sign the lease on our new place this saturday! hopefully we'll be celebrating christmas in the new place.?

we figure we'll start our hunt in the spring for buying again.

aside from sleep deprived, how are you??

  • if he's pukey and hivey from formula then have you tried a dairy elimination?  That's the most likely thing that's bothering him in the formula and is a pretty under-diagnosed reason for sleeplessnes, too.

  • zenya - I paged you above w/more of an explanation. ?He's on nutramagin which so far is ok - but he only gets maybe 4oz a day of it. ?I just can't keep up completely with pumping. ?It's just a big combo of lots of little things that need to be ironed out, I think.
  • Both of my kids?  13 looooooooong months with not a single STTN moment.
  • (((hugs)))  I've been there, and don't look forward to going back!  Hang in there...you WILL feel fully rested again someday, and chances are it won't be that long from now. DD went from 2-3 night wakings to STTN within about 3 months, so there's still plenty of hope for your little guy if you can just hold out a little longer. Vent away, though--there's nothing worse than sleep deprivation!
  • sorry, but I do know you feel.....DS is almost 27 months old and he has never sttn.  not ever.
