What to serve at 2 yr old b-day?

I am having a small b-day party for my dd on Saturday at 4pm.  No children will be there just grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc. I am expecting between 15-20 people.

Here is what I am thinking about serving....sandwich tray, chick fil a nugget tray, velveta/rotel dip, spinach dip, bbq party meatballs and cake/ice cream.

I think I need more "finger foods" and was thinking of doing deviled eggs or those tortilla-salsa pinwheel thingys but then thought maybe I needed a veggie/fruit tray.  What do you think..any other ideas?  How does the rest of the menu look?  Also, I am 8.5 months pg so the easier the better!

TIA.

  • That sounds like plenty of food! You could do some fruit or a pasta salad if you think you need more. LOL, if I were that pg I would just order pizzas. That is actually what we are doing for DS's party next weekend.

  • I think a fruit or veggie tray would be great.  It would be light and super simple.
  • that all sounds perfect and yes fruit is always nice, just curious, how come no kids will be there?
  • Your ideas sound great so far!  We went the super-easy route and got take-and-bake pizzas from Costco, which were really good and only took 10 minutes in the oven, so we could buy a bunch and only bake as many as we needed (we ended up with 2 pizzas left over).  We also got a Stouffer's frozen lasagna, which was party-sized and served a ton.  It all tasted pretty good for frozen food, and was way easier than cooking for 30+ people ourselves!
  • I know it sounds awful that no children (her age) are invited!  But, I did invite the 3 little girls from the neighborhood but they are all 8-10 yrs old!

The truth is that I just physically cannot do a party with children and their parents right now (gosh, as i type it i feel worse!).

  • I'd definitely add a veggie and/or fruit tray. Everything you have sounds great, but it's all heavy hors doevres (meats, cheeses) so I think the addition of fruit or veggies would be great!
