Gun fire...

Good morning girls - I need some serious help here.  My DS (he'll be 2 next month) recently started becoming terrified of gun fire (hunting).  We live out in the country so w/ hunting season here it's unavoidable to hear the craziness out in the woods.  He woke up the last 2 days shaking, screaming and yelling for momma.  He tells you "boom boom" - he knows what it is.  I don't know how to help him not be afraid.  It breaks my heart to hear/see him so scared.  Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.  TIA Kel

Re: Gun fire...

  • I too live in the country & constantly hear gun shots...but I never had any trouble with my kids being afraid of it.  Its almost like 2nd nature to them.  I wish I had some good advice.

  • Could you try a white noise machine in his room or something else that could block out some of the sound? ?We have to constantly run a humidifier in DS's room to muffle sounds that would wake him.

That really sucks for you guys :( ??
