2 yo and all the sudden afraid of the dark?

This is so random because before the last week or so, Noah would jut wander around the house no matter how much light.  Tonight he would not walk 5 steps ahead of me to get his ball in the DIM hallway because it was "darks".  It is strange to see him so cautious all of the sudden.  Does this about about right?

 He is fine to go to sleep in the dark though.  He doesn't use a nightlight either.

This is part of the hell we're going through now.  Will refuses to even sleep in the dark.  This has JUST started.

DS started this about 2 weeks ago as well. He would not go in room until we turned the lights on. He also began screaming at bedtime when we turned the lights off. We put a nightlight in his room and we make sure we tell him everynight that his nightlight is on and it will stay on all night. So far it's worked like a charm!

When my son was two he started with the fear of the dark thing.  We have to leave his light on for him to go to bed, once he's sleeping i'll dim it but leave it on some.  Otherwise if he wakes up he freaks out.  I think its a normal thing.

Totally normal for the age from what I read.
