Hi Ladies,
I know this has been brought up before but I wasn't able to find the thread. So please forgive me on the duplicate!!
I just had a check up with my OB and next week I have the option of membrane scraping/stripping. I have a week to think about it and thought I would bring it up and see what everyone's thoughts were. Any STM's have this done? Was it effective? Painful?
I have read up on it a bit and still none the wiser!! Just curious what other opinions are on this. TIA.
Re: Stripping Membranes
BFP 3/29/2014 2u2 Let's do this!
It didn't really hurt I was just uncomfortable later that night and all day the next day.
Doesnt it increase risk of infection as well? I think i remember hearing this in birth class
I was never told that just that there was a chance that it wouldn't work or it would make labor more intense if it did work. But I could be wrong
I've never had it done but I don't think I would consider it until 40+ weeks.
I've heard it does hurt and doesn't really work unless baby is ready.
My OB has made it clear that it could go either way. Which is why I am on the fence about it.
I guess I have a week to mull it over!!
Had it done with DS at 40w1d and my water broke the next day at home. It hurt and I was super uncomfortable for hours afterward.
This. It's awful. Don't do it.
