Re: *2nd Trimester Check-in*

  • Could I be added please?  I am 13w2d today!

Haven't posted much for a while since the 1st tri board disappeared for several weeks. Had out last appointment on 7/2 and got to see AND hear the hb! Baby is measuring a few days ahead and now my "official" due date is Jan 23 (I'm just too lazy to change my ticker...ha!) Have a regular check up next week.  Oddly enough I'm excited to go to the doctor....it's been so long since I've been last that I can't wait to hear baby's hb again and see how things are progressing.

QOTW: Have you decided on a name(s) for your LO(s)?
Please share if you are comfortable.  Is there a story behind the
name?  Was it a hard decision?  Are boy or girl names harder
for you and your SO?  Are you sharing the name with friends
    and family before the birth?

I think we are settled on names for now, but that may change, especially once we know the gender for sure come the end of Sept. Right now for a girl we are thinking Harper Faith.  No significance to the first name, and MN is an ode to all of our struggles with 2IF.  For a boy we are thinking Reid Leslie. Again, nothing special with the first name other than one we can acutally agree on and Leslie is DH's MN (along with his father's and grandfather's). Boy names are definitely harder for us, so if LO is a boy and we change our mind it will be a struggle! Haven't given much thought to sharing yet, but I'm sure we will. With DD we had decided not to and then DH spilled the beans so I'm guessing that will happen again this time around...he is terrible with secrets! :)

  • Exciting to see lots of new ladies joining - welcome!

I'm 19w5d.  I'm feeling better and more relaxed after a good anatomy scan report and no signs thus far of twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome.  The babies are moving around a lot right now.   In fact, they're starting to cause some pain when they jab into my sides and organs.  I like being able to feel them, though.  I will say that I had really underestimated the impact of a twin pregnancy -- I thought I'd be able to be more active until closer to term, but I can't walk or stand for long without starting to having painless contractions, so it's been hard adjusting to the limitations.

QOTW:  I think we're set on girl names, but we can't find a single boy name that we both really love.  And we need two boy names!  Plus, it seems so much harder with twins to find names that "go" together but aren't too matchy.  We're going to keep the names a secret from friends and family until birth.

Married 8/2008. IVF with PGD March 2013.
    3/22 ER: 25R, 20M, 15F. 9 genetically normal, and 3 survived to Day 5

  • Please add me. My due date is 1/22 and i am 14 weeks tomorrow. We just got our harmony results and we are very happy they were negative. We had an ultrasound today and she looked great. I have my OB in two weeks and a 18 weeks anatomy scan and a heart echo later due to my dd having a hearth problem (nothing serious).

Her name will be Gabriella. I had a really hard time picking the name. I had a list going. My dh and I went back and forth a long time. Her middle name is Sofia. I am from Bulgaria so the name has to work in my language too. I love the name. My dd is named Zoe so I think they work well together. She will be Gabi for short.  We will be sharing before birth but we are waiting for now, maybe after 20 weeks.

  • We had our anatomy scan on 7/9 and found out we are having a girl.  I was also excited to pass the milestone of being "half baked."

We are going to name our LO Elizabeth.  I have loved this name for a while and when I mentioned it to DH he said "I like that name too, lets go with it" so that discussion was really easy!  DH has started calling her "lizzie" even though I like the nickname "ellie" better...we shall see!

Not sure on middle names yet, if we go with naming her after someone it will probably be Mary because that is both my mom and DH's grandmother's name, but if we don't decide to do that I love the following for middle names: Claire, Cora, and Brynn.

Name will be a secret until she is born.

  • Hello! Nothing new to report here.  I'm inching my ways towards 28 weeks which is when i had to go on bedrest with DS so I'm starting to get nervous that will happen again. I have another u/s next week just to monitor the size of the baby so fingers crossed that goes well.

QOTW: See siggy!  This LO will be Audrey Alice.  Audrey is a name that we both liked and agreed on and Alice is in memory of my grandmother.  We shared it with our DS so he could get used to it so everyone pretty much knows since he talks about her all the time.  Hearing him say Baby Audrey is the sweetest sound ever!

  • Hi everyone!

Halfway there woo hoo!! I posted earlier about our anatomy scan. Baby looks great and we found out it is a BOY!! We were both so convinced it was a girl that we had our girl name all set. We are really stuck on boy names. DH read about 200 of them to me last night none of them really appealed to either of us. We'll have to figure it out!!! When we do, we won't be telling anyone.

  • It's pretty incredible to be moving closer to the top of this list! I never thought that day would come. It's also nice to start moving through the viability weeks.

My babes are moving around a lot and giving my stomach some killer stretch mark battle wounds. I'm slightly proud of them though.

We are gearing up to move in a few weeks provided our doctor gives me the OK. I'm not in love with the idea of flying for hours on end, but it's a one way flight and then we'll be preparing more intensely for these two to arrive.

QOTW: We're being smug and not disclosing their sexes or names to keep some surprise and suspense. One name we're set on and the other we're still going back and forth. It makes me feel a little guilty to refer to one by name and the other as baby... he / she will get a name soon I hope!
(Live in Europe) TTC since 1/2010
  • I'm getting excited that my second tri is coming to a close very soon. I still can't believe I made it to the third tri, sometimes it all seems just so surreal that this is actually happening!

I'm starting to feel officially pregnant, and I'm sadly losing my second tri "honeymoon" period. My back is killing me, my feet are swelling, and sleep has become extremely difficult lately. I'm hoping this passes and this isn't what the next three months looks like for me, but I just keep telling myself that it means my little girl is growing big and strong so it's worth it!

QOTW: we are naming our baby girl Audrey Karen, and Karen is after my mom. We've had both our girl and boy names picked out practically since we started TTC, so we're excited to get to use them finally!

  • I replied on here earlier this week, but looks like my post disappeared after TB's transition (happened to a few of my posts -- argh!).  I entered 2nd tri earlier this week, so I'll be moving over to that board -- wishing you all the best as you progress through 2nd tri!

QOTW:  We still aren't set on names -- one of them is *probably* picked (for us, name selection would be easier if we were having one girl and one boy).  We've had one of their middle names picked out all along since it's in memory of DH's mom, who passed away from cancer a few years ago.

  • Hey ladies I hope you are all feeling well! Nothing new here for me, we're at 25 weeks and have our second anatomy scan on Monday. Hoping baby girl will show her spine and belly button a little more clearly this time around! :)

QOTW: Have you decided on a name(s) for your LO(s)?   We did decide kinda earlier on the names we liked. We chose Carmody Erin for our girl, and we had Lochlan Sayre for a boy so it's on the back burner.
Is there a story behind the name?
we searched for Irish names since DH and I both have Irish heritage.
Was it a hard decision?  it was hard in the beginning but as soon as I saw her name I knew I loved it.
Are boy or girl names harder for you and your SO?  We were confident in both our names so we were ready for whatever :)
Are you sharing the name with friends and family before the birth? We did choose to tell everyone beforehand, and it honestly has helped everyone connect with her before she gets here, including myself :)

  • Hi Ladies,

We had a great appointment on Monday.  Baby's growth looks great - he is actually measuring a little ahead, my doctors are very happy with how things look.  I am feeling pretty good, as long as I get my sleep!  I can't believe the 2nd trimester is winding down, I guess I'll be checking for one more week.  I've been working in things like getting my breast pump ordered through insurance (they sure don't make it easy, I wouldn't be surprised if I just end up going out and buying it myself!), making a decision on cord blood banking, setting up some appointments to meet a couple of pediatricians.  I am excited because my custom car seat padding just came in, it's so sweet: blue with puppies.  It's fun getting the seat all ready for our little guy!

QOTW:  We have a very short list of potential names.  Most likely, we will use the name we had picked out for a boy during our first pregnancy.  Honestly, we have really hardly talked about it!  DH keeps saying, "we have plenty of time..." though I don't really agree.  Anyway, I think we are going to end up with the name I love anyway, unless he comes up with something better!  We are keeping it a secret from all but our closest circle.  I really can't stand it when people offer unsolicited advice or remarks on your choice for baby's name.  Obviously it is a very personal decision and those types of comments can be really aggravating.

  • Not much new to report.  My a/s is on August 5th.  We did have an elective u/s to confirm the gender yesterday.  We are going to a family reunion and it is nice to be able to tell people that we are for sure having 2 BOYS.  We were 100% one of them was a boy and they guessed the other was too, but now we have confirmation!  I'm anxious for my a/s...I hope everyone is growing ok and that everything is looking good!  I did start feeling some movement this week...so yay!

QOTW:  Right now we are tossing around the names Luca, Liam, and Tristan.  I am all for Luca & Liam...but is Liam too popular?  We can't decide...
