August 2013 Moms

Shopping trip

I went to Target today and bought throw away panties... a 6 pack of Hanes that I do not care if they get ruined! ... And maxi pads galore! Also bought contact solution and toiletries. Anything else you guys thought of that's a necessity to purchase for us mommies..not babies... Before Delivery? I had forgotten about having pads at home until my sister reminded me. Ugh. Dreading that!

Re: Shopping trip

  • Bobby pins/headband/pony tail holders

    Chapstick

Face wipes (I HATE being sweaty)

Handheld fan w/ mister; I throw up if I get overheated. I'm already planning to have the air cranked as low as it will go in our room, hopefully this will help out, especially during transition

"If you're still my small babe
or you're all the way grown,
    my promise to you
    is you're never alone.
You are my angel, my darling,
my star...and my love will find you,
    wherever you are."

  • Tucks pads. I came home with some from hospital, but needed more. But then again, it was a bit before I did, so prob. easy enough to pick up as needed. Snacks. I stocked up on lots of easy snacks today--because when I was BFing, esp. at first, I was constantly needing to snack.

  • Ponytail holders ...totally not on my list! Face wiped great idea too.
  • I haven't started shopping for my postpartum stuff yet but I have been stocking up on other things like: toilet paper, paper towels, paper plates (less dish washing for hubby), & laundry supplies.

  • Tucks pads and stool softeners (I was told this by lots of moms).  And then the general toiletries; toothbrush/paste, face wash, etc.

  • I met a doula who had recommended taking 2 "magic bags" they are fabric bags filled with rice or beans that you can buy or make. She said they are great to put one in the microwave and keep the other in the freezer the cold one is to help with transition.
I also have a few snack for my husband and slippers. Hope that helps!
  • All of what PPs have said, and a bag of Lifesavers hard candies to suck on. I was told your mouth gets very dry. On that note, when did stores stop selling Lifesavers in rolls at the checkout stands? Impossible to find!

Also, not so much a shopping trip thing, but it was recommended to me to soak a few heavy pads in witch hazel and freeze for when you get home and have pain down there. Very soothing, apparently.
