vent: gaining weight

I've put on about 3 lbs in a month... 1 of which was while we were on vacation the end of June. Ugh. I'm supposed to be losing the 27 lbs of baby weight I have left, not gaining.

Diet and exercise have really gone out the window since early June when I got mastitis and my neck issues flared up. I want to get back on it, but I'm totally lacking motivation. We ran a 10k the 22nd of June and it was BRUTAL because I'm totally just not in shape.

AND I have to run a half marathon in November... Someone slap some sense into me!

I should work out during naptime and not watch General Hospital, right? Right...

Re: vent: gaining weight

  • I'm with you ladies.....I gained 40 something lbs with my son. I lost all but 10 lbs the first month. Then I came back to work in December and since then gained like 20 back. So I'm heavier than my prebaby weight still. I just started dieting last Monday. I'm not doing a fad diet or anything like that. I just use the myfitnesspal app. You can input your current weight and goal weight and then how many lbs you want to lose a weight and it gives you a calorie allowance. Then you input your meals to keep track. When you excercise you get some of your calories back for the day. Love it! In one week, I lost 6.8 lbs...and I only went to the gym three times and even had a cheat day (where I totally pigged out on pizza hut) Hey, we had babies. It hard work to get back! and it's summertime, so allowing yourself to endulge while on vacation or at bbq's is ok :)

I use mfp. Usually. But I've just not been caring enough lately, so it's been awhile since I've been using it regularly. Started back up with it today, so let's hope I stick to it.

I have myfitness pal and its not helping

It wasn't doing much for me either. I was using it in May when I was working my butt off to lose doing Slim in 6, and I only lost a couple lbs that month. I think the breastfeeding calories and workout calories were too high even though I was estimating those activities accurately, so I decided I'm not going to eat the calories I burn through exercise or breastfeeding and see what happens.

my fitness pal did not work for me, turns out i was starving myself and calories aren't everyting.  I joined WW when DD was 6 months old back in april and have been very successful so far. I am down 23 lbs.  it is slow and steady but very doable

DH thinks weight watchers is a scam and a half, but I was on it from 2011 til 2012 and hit my goal weight when I was 9 weeks pregnant. It always gives me a boost. I should really think about rejoining.

me too, and I've been doing weight watchers online since Thanksgiving, just keep forgetting to use it. I need to go back to meetings, just waiting on DH to let me know when I can start since he needs to come home early from work to be with the girls so I can go!

  • Don't focus on calories alone, since all calories aren't created equal. Many think they're eating too much, but really they're eating too little. With the right food and timing you can keep your metabolism going all day. Start with small changes and make them a part of your lifestyle. I HATE "diets", since they don't do anything for you long term. These little modifications will soon become the norm for you. What's your typical diet in a day?
