Does anyone have experience with a lemon law situation? I have a new car that keeps having a very strange problem... The engine won't shut off. I had to take it back to the dealer yesterday for the third time. It is my understanding that if they can't fix it this time it is officially a lemon. I am really upset that this is happening again, especially so close to my due date. It's super stressful not o have a realiable car with my little one on the way.

Have any of you ladies had experience with the lemon law? Thanks in advance

Yesterday when I got home from work, turned the key, took the key out of the ignition, and it wouldn't shut off I thought I was going to go into labor. I was so flippin' mad. I am waiting for the dealer to call me today. What the heck am I supposed to do with a car that keeps running! Luckily the dealer was still open, but I can't be dealing with this running around once I have a newborn

My DH works for a car dealership and has always said the Lemon Law process is a very long and usually frustrating process for car owners. Sorry you are dealing with this right now!

Thank you. I am hoping the dealer can make it easy on me. I just can't deal with this right now. I am scared to find out what my blood pressure is at my appointment today

I have no experience with Lemon Laws, but sometimes in the heat my car does that when I take the keys out. It's the fan cooling down the engine, but it freaks me out and I put the key back in and turn and it then shuts off. I've also heard it has something to do with a fuse that a service place can check out.

It previously happened in the winter too. They replaced a lot of things and it was good for a little but now it's doing it again. I cant get it to shut off... even if i unhook the battery. The car is brand new so it shouldnt be doing this. It's possessed!!!

yeah, no. nbsp;I'm normally one for going all nice and sweet when first addressed with a problem, but in this case I would totally go all angry and even bring up the baby constantly. nbsp;If I was the manager and heard I had a customer who was 8 months pregnant and had a car acting up this badly I would fix it asap. nbsp;That is a lawsuit he's not going to win...

Yeah. I feel like I am going to freak out. It doesn't help that my car payment is due today

Start with the dealership, they will likely give you a number for a regional rep for the car's manufacturer who can guide you through the process. Unfortunately, there isn't much the dealer can do other than attempt to fix the issue under the manufacturer's warranty. The Lemon Law deals with car manufactures, not dealerships. Be sure the dealership's service department gives you a detailed statement of all work performed on the vehicle and don't take the car to an unauthorized service center for any work.

Save all your receipts.

If you can prove it has been the same main issue for each time, then yes this is a lemon law issue. I believe the law says if the same issue comes up more than 3x over a certain amount of time it should protect you. I do think it depends when you bought the car, and the time frame in which you got these repairs (like one month, 3 repairs for the same thing for example.)

Do you have another dealer in the area you can get to have a different mechanic look at it?

I actually did about a year ago. They made it very easy. I had to send in all the paperwork from service dept and along with lemon law paperwork filled out in the back of the lemon law book. After 3 times you can file this and the dealership will have one last attempt
To correct the situation.

Thanks for all your responses ladies. The car is supposedly fixed and they "feel confident they pin pointed the problem this time".
If it happens again they said they would have to work with the manufacturer to get me a new car.
