Swollen feet

Hello
In my 28th week and with the heat my feet are pretty swollen and tingle a bit. At my desk I keep them elevated on a stool and am fortunate to be able to rest then on the couch at night. Any recommendation for shoes or other ideas? DH rubbed them but that's a very much appreciated temporary relief.

Re: Swollen feet

  • Lots of water, compression socks, feet elevated above your heart and movement. While sitting at work, even with your feet elevated (which can't be that high since you are sitting) your chair is putting pressure on the backs of your legs which can be restricting circulation. Get up and walk as often as you can and drink as much as possible to help keep the fluid flowing. Plus watch your salt intake & soda. Other than that, its a fun side effect of being pregnant.

  • I've been sitting everyday with my feet well above my heart level and it has made a HUGE difference! I also hear that compression socks work very well too.

  • I wear compression socks and while they don't totally prevent swelling, it helps with it and it also helps with the achiness I was having with the swelling.
  • If there's a pool nearby I've found that mine are a lot better after a few hours of soaking in a nice cool pool.

I just got mine at a Walgreens in the section with "medical equipment", but it was a fairly limited selection. Luckily I was able to find some that were knee high, open toe and nude color so I can still wear sandals with them.

Hello In my 28th week and with the heat my feet are pretty swollen and tingle a bit. At my desk I keep them elevated on a stool and am fortunate to be able to rest then on the couch at night.

My doctor told me this makes it worse. Because when you are sitting, not in a reclined position, putting your feet up squishes your uterus making the blood flow to your feet even slower. This makes the swelling worse. He told me that keeping your feet down at your desk is actually better than putting them up.

  • Compression stockings at cvs or rite aid. I have knee highs which I can wear under my dress and thigh highs which can be tricky to put on. I often get excited because in yhe morning i'm screaming i can see my ankles and not have cankles. It also makes me pee a little more. I sit reclined with my feet
elevated. I wear sandals all the time because it's a little hard for me to tie
my shoes. My slip on shoes are
starting to feel small on me. I try to drink alot of water and watch salt intake. I also have my nutribullet which I make fresh fruit smoothies with probiotics. That helps with the weight a little in the legs.
  • I got mine at www.brightlifedirect.com - they have lots of options and some great prices.
  • Compression stalkings are great and try to avoid things like ankle socks or leggings that cut off your circulation near your ankles. Also, I second the notion that sandles make it worse b/c when I wear tennis shoes, I have way less swelling and I work on my feet all day - no sitting. In the end I think we're all going to experience it b/c it's summer time and it can't be avoided.
