Hi! I'm lurking from nov 13 bmb. I have a DD who has benn in cloth for 18 months and a DS due in Nov that we plan to CD from birth.
I have a friend who graciously gifted me her old bum genius all in one pockets but they desperately need new aplix. I've put them on DD a few times and they always end up falling off. I've watched a few google videos on how to do it but have a few questions for btdt moms.
1. Do I need to replace the tabs and the panel across the front or can I just do the tabs?
2. Will it compromise my pul if I'm taking out and putting in new stitches?
3. Do you have any helpful tutorials or videos that you used?
Thanks!
Re: Replacing aplix on BG
I've replaced the tabs and laundry tabs on mine. It was annoying taking out the stitches but I should have done it while watching tv or something to entertain me. It's an easy but not fun project imo. I didn't replace the landing strip on any. It would be nice for it to look all nice and new but that seemed like more effort when the new tabs attached just fine to it.(I was replacing tabs on ones that had mega curled aplix because they caused diaper chains in the wash.) I would just stick the velcro you want to use for the tab on the landing strip and see if it sticks well or not to decide if you want to change the landing strip.
I used the bumgenius refresher kits that are $1(free shipping) from cottonbabies to repair mine. This kit comes with the elastics, tabs and laundry tabs but NO front panel.
I did consider converting to snaps but both DH and I prefer aplix.
Kaholland4 thanks for the offer, I'll pm you if I decide to buy them from you if I don't go with snaps.
