Baby Names

Heidi?

Haven't heard this for a while, partner brought it up just before. Thought?

Re: Heidi?

  • It's a guilty pleasure name for me. I'd never use it myself though, because for some reason I think that a girl named Heidi either

a.) lives in the Swiss Alps and likes to yodel; or

    b.) is a stripper.

  • I think it's really pretty BUT it was my college roommate's mn and she hated it with a passion. She couldn't wait to drop it when she got married. I'm not sure why, but that's kind of tainted the name for me.

I like it. I know a Heidi in her 30's and it fits her.

  • I like it.

DH brought it up when I was pregnant with DD, but we have a Spanish last name and it sounded funny.

I think it's a feminine, pretty and underused name.

  • it's cute! def NMS but cute! i have two friends named heidi, 40 and 27, so it's definitely under appreciated at the moment.
  • I really like it. I knew twins that were named Heather and Heidi. I like that you don't hear it too much.
  • [quote user="Helenahhandbasket"I think it's a feminine, pretty and underused name.

    I agree
  • I was debating wether or not to post... I LOVE Heidi but FNs with strong associations or that are very feminine are nms.

If our first is a girl her fn will be Adelaide and her nn will be Heidi.

  • This is my mom's name and I've always loved it! With DD, I really liked Adelaide/Adeline for a name since it ties back to Heidi, but it was a bit too popular for me.

I kind of like it. Found out a few years ago, DH had an aunt named Hedwig (HP anyone??) and they called her Heidi.

It does make me think Switzerland though.

  • It's NMS but I wouldn't side eye it.

  • I love it, but it happens to be my FN, so perhaps I am biased :)
  • I don't know, it seems kinda dated to me.. and not in a good way. It's not terrible though.
