Poor dd has diaper rash and it is much worse than ds ever got. It has an open sore and was bleeding. Do we just keep putting diaper rash cream on top of the sore? I'm worried about making it worse. Any advice from TB not doctors?
Don't use wipes. Warm wash cloth. I would use aquaphor when we were airing her tush. I'd also rotate between purple desitin and ad ointment. Poor girl! GL!
Give her butt lots of air time. Is her whole butt raw? It could be a yeast infection. DD got them all the time while she was in diapers. Her butt would just be red and raw looking. We used Lotrimin (sp?) for jock itch on her. I would ask your pedi before using it on your DD though.
Thanks, guys. It is raw about a half inch to an inch from the hole. (such a klassy description), so I'm hoping it isn't yeast. She's been pooping 6 to eight times a day, sometimes a bit more. She finally has started eating solids willingly (as of last Monday) and it has been a tough transition on her little gut. They are pretty solid, but tiny amounts (constant sharting to be honest) for most of them. I foresee a naked tushy tomorrow. Thanks for the help. I hope this clears up quickly. If it isn't improving, I'll go have it checked to see if I need to treat for yeast.
triple paste for the rash. neosporin for the sore, lots of nakey time. watch for white discharge to see if she has a yeast infection (honestly, you might want to get her checked anyway) hope she feels better soon!
Re: Bleeding tush
Are you using zinc?
If you have access to a farmers' market or a natural health food store, you can find some good, natural baby bum cream.
As an alternative, I suggest coconut oil.
Also, lots of free bum time so it can get some air to help with healing.
