Pregnant after IF

To vomit or not to vomit?

I woke up early this morning, feeling pretty normal and a little upset that I wasn't feeling symptoms. Flash forward to now, a few hours later, and I'm extremely nauseous and on the verge of plucking at times. I have always had great control over puking, and can usually think myself out of it or delay it at least. I'm wondering....will I feel better if I just let it out or should I keep fighting it?

im 6w1d and I've had lighter waves of nausea. This was the first time it was overwhelming and resulted in vomiting though

  • I have been dealing with it for two weeks. I haven't yacked yet but got pretty close last night. I don't think I would fight it but I also don't think this is a situation where you puke then feel better. I think you puke and continue to feel like crap.

  • For me, I feel better after I let it out! I do feel a bit dehydrated after, so drink lots of fluids. Hope you get some relief soon!

thanks...I actually did feel a lot better but if I can keep my nutrients in I want to..even if it means I will stay sick.

  • I've had terrible nausea since 6w1d, but I've only thrown up once. I have to say, I did feel better after I puked! I'm grateful to be able to keep my food down (and thus nutrients), but I'm not gonna lie - there are times when I wish I could just puke so that I could get some relief!

I say listen to your body and don't fight it too hard - you will still find a way to get the nutrients you need. I hope you feel better soon!

  • I feel better after I puke. But I also don't feel nauseas all day anymore but I'm puking more. I'm 12w tomorrow and have thrown up everyday for the past four days. Before I threw up about once a week but felt sick all day long but I think the difference is that I'm getting an appetite back and eating more normally therefore it comes back up. I thought it would be getting better by now but guess not.

    Hope you feel better soon!

Edit: add on: my favorite part is the fact that I also pee myself every time I puke too. Added bonus!

  • I've had HORRIBLE nausea and vomiting since 6w5d. I literally carry a little trash can around the house and the few times I've left the house in the past 5ish weeks I have to carry barf bags. I never feel better after vomiting. :( unfortunately Im not able to control it (this is why I carry the trash can). Even though you will not want to, try to keep something in your stomach. I also eat a lot of peppermint candy and jolly ranchers which helps.

Hope this doesn't last long!! On a positive note- morning sickness usually means healthier pregnancies! :)

that is interesting about the peppermint. My mom is into essential oils instead of medication and when I first felt this way about a week ago I asked if the oils might help me. Sure enough, her guide recommended peppermint or ginger oils...I smelled it and my nausea was relieved...sometimes just momentarily but then I just smelled more :)

Ginger hasn't helped me although I know for others it has but I'm not a ginger fan so sometimes I think it makes it worse. The mint has been the best for me. I never thought of smelling the oil though!  If you find it's hard to eat try I've found that a smoothie from Jamba Juice is easy to digest and nutritious. I've lost 14 pounds from this morning sickness and have tried any and everything. :(

  • I have had it for 31 weeks so far :P  It stinks!  I try to fight it because the dr wants the baby to get bigger.  But it never works.  I can postpone it for a little while sometimes.  Nothing helped me except meds from the dr and being taken off of other medications.  I can tell you that after a while it gets better and most people only have it for the first trimester.

  • :former pg after ifer here:

I had puking for 5 months of my pregnancy with my daughter...and that was with the zofran. If you find that you tend to puke, ask the dr for some zofran. It was a god send. I could get that down after my 1st morning puke and spend the rest of the day at least not puking.

Oh, and take stool softener with the zofran...it leads to constipation!

After 2 years of TTC, our daughter was born on Oct 31, 2011!

  • I've been dealing with it for 2.5 weeks now too and I do feel better when I throw up. For me it is essential that I never let my stomach get empty - lots of small carb snacks /meals all day long. I used to only drink water but for some reason i just can't with the ms so I've been drinking lots of lemonade and ginger ale. I got a prescription for zofran and have used it on the really bad days but like was said above - it causes really bad constipation:(
