bowling?

This may be a dumb question but I was asked to go to a bowling benefit in october. I will be 7 1/2 months. I didn't think anything of it until people started asking me if I should be bowling at that point. I'm a wimp anyways normally use a10lbs ball. What do you guys think? I have to rsvp for it so I need to decide sooner than later so those planning it have a headcount. I mean I could always use a kids ball...

  • I'm just over 32 weeks and I'm going to a birthday where we'll be bowling later tonight. I have zero concern about it and can't imagine it being a problem. If you don't usually bowl and will be jumping into a HIGHLY competitive bowling situation, you may want to feel it out, but that would be a wildly extreme situation (and a little silly). Just have fun.

  • Go and have fun! Listen to your body, if you need to sit then sit but I bet you will be fine.
  • Like pp said, if you feel fine then you should be okay. Just listen to your body. I know that I would not bowl at this point due to how incredibly sore my hips have been. Even when I wasn't pregnant, I would feel fairly sore after bowling so I know I just couldn't take it at this point, I'm 31 weeks. I wish I could though!

But again, if you feel good, go and have fun!
  • Asked my dr. same question...he said it would be fine, just to be careful about being off-balance and falling. I assured him that I am not that competitive of a bowler, so my walk and throw should be just fine :)

  • I know the others have all answered already, but we had a woman in our bowling league keep bowling till she gave birth. I know she was using some sort of tummy support and she did take it slow. I know she did go down to a lighter weight ball and her approach slowly changed. That is to be expected though.

  • I went bowling a few weeks ago and was just fine. I just used the really light ball, just in case! :)

  • I was bowling a lot early on in my pregnancy and had no problems but did find out that my back became sorer, quicker. Just make sure you stay on your feet and use a lighter ball and you'll be fine.
