Cloth Diapering

Fail

DS has had a weird little rash for a couple days and CJ's was not doing the trick. I switched to disposables just for today so I could use triple paste on it and not worry about my CDs repelling, as DS moves all over during changes. Well the disposables gave him a nasty rash in the crease of one leg!! Maybe a heat rash although he was mostly inside all day. Guess that experiment failed!

  • Some baking soda in a bath and then some naked time has always cleared up rashes for me. Plus some calendula ointment here amd there. As for the heat rash thing... man, have you felt inside those sposies after getting an LO out of a carseat? I was shocked! They are ovens! Thank goodness we use cloth. :) If the leg thing is from heat, though, it should go away pretty quick.
  • I have been doing baking soda in the bath. I try naked time but he takes it as an invitation to poop; not my idea of a fun time! But I will try again. I don't have calendula so I will have to look into that!
When he was lying on me yesterday I felt heat radiating from his bottom. Crazy how much warmer he was with the disposable on!

We have an extra cheap waterproof mattress pad that I use for naked time.  Once she's pooped or peed I just shove it in the washer.  She does naked time twice a day for up to 30minutes each time...she LOVES it.  She gets all giggly and wiggly and so excited.

If you don't have a pad...can try lying a large garbage bag down flat and on top of it put an old towel.  Throw the towel in the wash.  You may not need the garbage bag under...I would as my daughter pees a ton at once and would soak through the towel to the floors.

Naked times clears any rash or redness and prevents it all for us.

  • sorry about DS's rash! ouch!

the more we use CD, the more grossed out I am by sposies

Yes we do naked time with a garbage bag and towel, but the newborn poosplosion is not fun with that setup.

I tried coconut oil previously but not on this rash. May have to try again!
