Lupron question

Hi girls,

So my meds arrived yesterday and I was told to store the Follistim in the fridge, but the Lurpon says store below 77 degrees and my apartment is above 77 degrees most days, since I try not to turn the a/c on until the evening. Do any of you store it in the fridge? Would it hurt it to keep it in the fridge so it doesn't get too hot?

I am going to ask my nurse tomorrow when I go in for my blood work, but you ladies are so experienced, I figured I'd ask here as well!

Re: Lupron question

  • My instructions were to refrigerate my Lupron after opening and thats what we've done.
As for the other meds....everything seemed so definite about temps to store it at that we've kept our AC on unless we know it will be at least that cool.

Thanks. I have a mini fridge and I have it on the lowest setting so it isn't too cold and I will keep the Lupron in there unless my RE office says otherwise tomorrow!

Thanks for your help, girls! I will keep it in the mini fridge!

Now I just have to figure out which needle to use! The pharmacy sent an insulin syringe for the Lupron, but the Lupron also comes with it's own syringe! My nurse tomorrow is going to think I didn't pay attention at all, but when I got all the meds at once yesterday, I got stressed and overwhelmed trying to remember what goes with what!

Did you get the 2 week kit of Lupron? Mine was a box with alcohol swabs and insulin syringes inside it.

Yep, that's exactly what I got, but then there's a bag labeled insulin syringes and it is also designated for Lupron...so I am confused!

  • I kept mine refrigerated the whole time, even when I traveled.

The syringes that came in the box most likely won't last you the whole time, if you are on a long protocol of Lupron. The other syringes should just be extras. They should be the same kind of syringe, with the same unit markings.
