What did I do wrong?

to all the chefs in the house please solve this mystery for me...

ok so I tried making chocolate chip cookies from scratch tonight and they turned out WEIRD!  They are like albino or something.  They do not look done, but they are.  I used unbleached flour do you think that is what it is?  But they also taste weird too.  They taste too fluffy or something--kind of like those health food versions of chocolate cookies.  All in all they are pretty bad.  Back to the drawing board!

  • Did you use baking powder vs soda or vice-versa?  I can't remember which the recipe calls for, but once I used the wrong one and they came out kind of like that.

  • Use the recipe on the back of the Hershey's chocolate chips. They are the best cookies I have ever made.

  • It definitely was not the use of unbleached flour that ruined your cookies.  Baking is a pretty precise thing, you probably just missed something or mixed something up.  If they taste weird, toss them.  Good luck on your second batch :)
