Barometric pressure and labor?

I'm currently 37 weeks 4 days. My MD checked me on Monday, but no dilation yet.

I'm in South Florida, and tropical storm Chantal is scheduled to hit late this weekend. I've heard rumors about changes in barometric pressure inducing labor, or at least water breakage.

I'm curious if my little minion could come this weekend. Anyone experience this first-hand?

I live in south fl as well, and have always heard that if you are far enough along and your ob is concerned with the increased barometric pressure they will have you camp out at the hospital during a storm. But Chantal isn't for sure hitting us, and if it does they are saying just as a tropical storm. I'd wait until it gets closer and we are definitely in the cone and then ask your ob if you should go into the hospital or wait it out at home.

  • During Hurricane Isaac last year, my dear friend who stayed with me to be close to the hospital went into labor the day after the storm passed. She was about 2 weeks early.
