What are you doing for your swollen feet?

My feet are mammoth size. Ok, not really, but they're big.

I'm drinking a ton of water and try to elevate them whenever I can.  Nothing seems to be helping. Oh and I don't eat a lot of salt either (at least I try not to).

Any ideas?

Is there a point I should be concerned?

  • Compression socks, cut the soda, Epsom salt baths, massage. Get concerned when its putting edema or your face starts swelling.

  • I'm having the same issue with my shrek feet. The weird thing with my issue is my sodium is LOW! Yet I've had crazy swelling including my face on some days. Make sure you update your doctor on every visit how your swelling is.

  • I think you're doing everything you can! You could ask your doc at your next app though he/she may have some more ideas. The only thing I have heard to worry about with like severe swelling is preclampsia spelling? lol which I believe comes with a bunch of other symptoms like high blood pressure and such. Sorry to hear though I know it must be uncomfortable ! mine are getting bigger too.
  • I take the occasional epsom salt bath. Overall, I don't get too swollen unless I have been on my feet all day on the weekends. My week and calves get swollen. I'll soak for about 20 minutes right before bed. When I wake up everything is back to normal.
  • I took an Epsom salt bath the other day and it worked wonders.
  • Pay attention to the sodium content in everything. Condiments, cheese, pasta sauce, Gatorade, flavored water, salsa, etc. I was put on a "as close to no sodium" diet with DS1 last time because of swelling. I never thought of the salt content in a lot of these items before that.
Otherwise try what has been suggested already.

  • My swelling is caused from a vascular deficiency, so I have to wear compression stockings.  You wouldn't believe the difference it makes.  Talk to your doctor.
