Having issues with PIO site

This morning DH gave me my injection.  He was searching for a good spot, but the entire area was sore to the touch.  I had some slight discomfort when he inserted the needle, a little more than usual but when he started to inject the fluid it was burning and very very painful.  At first he stopped as he was concerned but I told him to finish it.  It only hurt as the fluid was injected.  But now I have pain in the entire area (to touch) and a constant burning feeling at the base of my spine, and it sort of feels as though there is some swelling or fluid in that area.

He aspirated, so I know it wasn't that he hit a vein.

 Now I'm concerned that the progesterone isn't getting absorbed. 

Anyone else ever have this problem?

It sounds like he hit a nerve. Apply some heat to the area. It may take a few days to resolve.

This.. I had the same type of pain, called my nurse and she indicated DH most likely hit a nerve.  I felt like I had pain shooting up and down my left leg for a few days, burning around the injection site, and super sore.  The nurse had me use a heating pad off and on for 2-3 days.  It does feel better (it's been about 2 weeks) but I still do 2 nights on the right and then 1 on the left (using the right side more than the left..it has helped).  Hope you feel better...

I don't have any experience, but it sounds like he may have hit a nerve. It's probably not serious and will just be sore, but if you're concerned, it wouldn't hurt to just give your RE a quick call.

Same as what others have said. Probably a nerve, that hurts just like you described!! Hope it heals quickly!!

I agree, probably hit a nerve.  I had this happen at the hospital when they gave me my methotrexate...it really sucks.  Take it easy and feel better!
