Yeast Infection

Oh. Yay. Happy Monday to me!

Are there any rules about yeast infections while pregnant? Or can I just shove a Monistat 1 day up there and be done with it?

Sorry ladies. TMI this early I know.

Re: Yeast Infection

  • I don't think you can do the Monistat 1. I think it has to be the 3 or 7 day. Or you could prob just call your doc and get a diflucan. Hope this helps!! Hope you feel better! Try are common during pregnancy with all the hormone changes.

I don't know about prescription things, but here are some natural things you can do:

    1) Don't eat sugar (including fruit) until it clears up.

    2) Aged garlic pills (Kyolic). I think at least 1000mg/day

    3) Probiotics. First thing in the morning before eating anything. Don't get the yogurts that are full of sugar. Get real probiotics (Bio K is a good brand, so is Culturelle).

These things work really fast and are very safe. Your symptoms might get worse for a couple of days as the yeast die off.

I have tried all the 'natural' methods mentioned above, and they don't always help. I have been prone to YI's this pregnancy and the only thing that is keeping them away is a daily pill of acidophilus. Anyway, I would call for the diflican. Monistat 1 isn't recommended during pregnancy, and the 3 or 7 day creams can be torture. And if you are prone to infections definately get some acidophilus. It saved my life! Good luck!

My doctor gave me a prescription, but I can't remember the name of it.

  • Ugh. I just waited on hold for 25 minutes to speak to someone for them to tell me I can use either the 3 or 7 day Monistat no problem, and not even offer me a prescription. I wanted to be able to stop by CVS before I got to work, but I guess I'll have to go back out now! Grrrrrrrr.

Thanks for all the suggestions ladies =) I appreciate them!

  • Monistat 7 cream, no suppositories, is all my dr will suggest. I feel your pain.

I had one a couple of months ago. My OB said I had to use the 7 day.
  • Had one, used monistat 3 day. Could have went with 7 day.
