I've started my 4 week old on pumped breastmilk, just one bottle a day or so, to give me a break. I have a bunch of transition milk (colostrum and regular milk mixed) in the freezer, from when I had an oversupply early on. Is it ok to give her this? I don't want the richness to upset her tummy. Should I mix it with the milk I'm pumping now?
I asked my pedi about this bc I have a ton I'm my freezer as well and she said it was totally fine to give them. For some reason I'm nervous to give it to her though so I haven't yet.
I'm nervous too! I know it's super packed with extra nutrients, but it's also a lot more rich than what I'm producing right now. I'd hate for it to give her diarrhea or something. I might try mixing it half and half and see how she handles it.
It will be fine. It's not going to cause diarhea. If anything it's full of digestive enzymes and antibodies that will make her less likely to have diarhea. Or save it for when she has her first cold where the extra concentrated antibodies might help.
Re: Bottlefeeding transition milk
This is what I plan to do.
