3rd Trimester

Too Much Movement?

Mobile: Too Much Movement?

Today and yesterday, DD has been going crazy in my womb. I am short, 5'3". I think she is running out of space.

She has been doing crazy alien movements all day.

Her feet are up in my ribs and honestly it feels at times as if one of them is going to rip right through my skin. It hurts!

I am thankful that she is so active and I can feel her, but it is getting seriously painful and I have an irrational fear that a foot will just burst through my rib cage.

Any other Moms experiencing this? Or, did you have that feeling in a previous pregnancy?

  • My little guy is SUPER active. I was joking w/ DH last night that if LO got anymore active, we would get to see a live re-enactment of Alien.

My DS is a crazy nutcase like all the time. It freaks me out sometimes how much he moves. What is weird for me is my previous DD was super calm to the point where I was doing kick counts and going to the dr to check things out because she just hardly ever moved.

My DD turned out to have that calm, lazy baby personality after she was born too. It makes me worried about what that means for DS's personality.....

  • Yup. Same symptoms over here too.
  • my daughter's been moving around like crazy today. I think they're more active on some days, and some babies are more active than others. I think it's all normal. Not moving a lot would probably be a problem. It hurts when I'm at work and she moves a lot, because it throws off my balance. But, baby should be fine.

I am worried about the same thing! She's super high energy and loves to be awake all night. She's my first so I don't have any other babies to compare her to. However, I don't think she'll be a calm, lazy baby. It's sort of fun to know she already has a bit of a wild personality--like her Daddy.

This is us, every night before bed. I lay down and LO immediately goes crazy. It's like she's thrashing around in there. Craziest thing I've ever witnessed.

  • My kid's pretty active, too.  And your irrational fear isn't really that irrational... almost two weeks ago (at 35 weeks and 1 day) a nice solid kick in the rib cage actually fractured my rib.  Yup.  My kid broke my darn rib!  The doctor said to keep the feet from doing anymore damage I should strap a cold pack to my rib.  Not to help it feel better, but to move those darn feet away!  It worked!  The feet are now down by my side where I now have a bruise on the outside from it, but I'll take a little tiny bruise of a completely broken rib any day!

However broken ribs are very rare according to the ER doc who saw me.  :)

  • It's normal just wait till there is no room and the baby kicks your ribs so hard it fractures yes it can happen , had it happen in past pregnancies
  • Same thing here. Movements are getting painful!

  • Me too. I have the same feeling. I always joke that there is either an alien in therer or the baby is a black belt in karate or taking a kickboxing class. Sometimes it's really really painful and DH gets worried. But the doc said it's fine and as long as there is kicking it's all good.

LOL! a couple of nights ago my LO was moving so much I thought he was trying to come out of my stomach!  Also I think my husband thinks just the idea of the baby moving around is like Alien.  It freaks him out when I am laying next to him in bed and then the baby moves and he feels it.

Oh my God!! Thanks for the tip about the cold pack.

With me, it's getting to the point to where I can only sleep on my left side. If I sleep on the right side, my kid jabs me silly. Hopefully, he wont crack my rib like poor JC.
