The doctors don't think I will make it through this week without going into labor. I was feeling the same as I've had contractions every day for a week (just not getting closer), lightening sensations, back aches, and just pure exhaustion (which is very unlike me especially during this pregnancy)-all of these things in addition to being 4 cm dilated and I over 50 percent thinned has led my doctor to believe I will be in labor soon. However, just two days ago I came down with an illness...so awful that I've been on the couch for two days. Has anyone experienced this before labor? I think my body is just wiped. I have been resting like crazy and taking doctors advice. Any input on if this can slow labor down or a sign of getting closer? Every body reacts differently but curious about others experiences.

Re: Sick
Keep your hydration, blood sugar and sodium levels as constant as you can. Other then that wait it out. You answered your own question: everyone responds differently to illness and/or labor.

My LO was extremely sick last week with vomiting, diarrhea, and fever. I mentioned this to my midwife, and she told me that if I do happen to catch what she had, usually your body will not go into labour until the sickness has passed. So if you are truly sick, and not just sick because of pre-labour, you likely won't progress.
But, as PP said, labour is a strange animal, so the fatigue and feeling bad could be a sign that something is happening. You just never know. Which sucks.
